Modelling User Tasks with the Unified Modelling Language

چکیده

This paper discusses the extension of the Unified Modelling Language (UML) for modelling tasks and user groups. The term task is used widely, to include collaborative and multi-user tasks and without reference to some specific theory of user task knowledge or behaviour. The paper presents the proposed extension to the UML, focusing on the concepts involved and the abstract syntax for the notation introduced, comparing it to related formalisms and other extensions to the UML. User Interface Modelling with UML

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a natural candidate for user interface (UI) modelling since it is the standard notation for object oriented modelling of applications. However, it is by no means clear how to model UIs using UML. This paper presents a user interface modelling case study using UML. This case study identifies some aspects of UIs that cannot be modelled using UML notation, an...

Data Analytics: From Conceptual Modelling to Logical Representation

In recent years, data analytics has been studied in a broad range of areas, such as health-care, social sciences, and commerce. In order to accurately capture user requirements for enhancing communication between analysts, domain experts and users, conceptualising data analytics tasks to provide a high level of modelling abstraction becomes increasingly important. In this paper, we discuss the ...

Measuring the potential of domain-specific modelling techniques

A small-scale example application is used to introduce a domain-specific notation for objectoriented user interfaces. This paper compares traditional software development (no abstract modelling), standard Unified Modelling Language (UML)-based software development, and software development based on domain-specific modelling. To allow a comparison, Lines of Code (LOC) serve as a measure of devel...

ScIML: Model-based Design of Voice User Interfaces

We will introduce ScIML, a domain specific language for voice user interface (VUI) creation that is based on the generic expressive means of the Unified Modelling Language. In particular, we employ UML statecharts for interaction flow modelling.

Hypermedia Modelling Using UML

This paper discusses an approach to hypermedia modelling using the Unified Modelling Language (UML). We describe hypermedia models based on four established views of hypermedia system: application domain model, navigation model, presentation model and user model. The approach emphasises UML state diagrams as capable technique for navigation modelling. We relate our approach to other types of mo...
